due to hurricane sandy, we were chased out of the d.c. area 48 hours sooner than planned. what followed was scrambling to gather our lives and a mad rush to the south. we finally landed at our new home base a week ago today. the movers came and unloaded our belongings, and we spent four days undertaking intense home improvement projects. we are only renting for now, but we wanted to start off right this time with a place that felt like home and not just a temporary pit stop. both our sets of parents were huge helps in the process.
now we're in georgia.
we've mounted tvs, installed a ceiling fan, lights, hung wall art and photos, put together new furniture, unpacked, decorated, and nested. we feel that we are nearing the completion of our "settling in," and it doesn't hurt that our new washer and dryer are being delivered and installed today. her highness is liking the extra space to play fetch and all the new windows and views. we are loving all the extra space, too (not to mention the mucho cheaper rent). i finally got to unpack and put on display our kitchen aid pro stand mixer we received for the wedding! and i've already picked out the first recipe to christen its shiny, newness.
i'm posting photos along the way on instagram, and i hope my blog hasn't felt too neglected. but this is what displacement is all about! making the best of it.
love, love, love.

I'm glad you moved before the storm!!!
ReplyDeleteHope life in Georgia is just peachy and you are getting settled in :)
